About Kobe

Kobe is a prominent port city with a population of about 1.5 million. The city is located in the Kansai region of Japan and is part of the Keihanshin metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto.

Kobe is the point of origin and namesake of Kobe beef as well as the site of one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts, Arima Onsen.

JR Shinkansen bullet train stops at Shin-Kobe Station. About 1km south of Shin-Kobe Station, Sannomiya Station is the main rail hub for intercity Hankyu, Hanshin and JR trains to Osaka and Kyoto.

Port Island

Port Island is an artificial island in Kobe. It was constructed between 1966 and 1981 at Port of Kobe. It now houses a heliport, many hotels, a large convention center, and several parks. The Port Liner automated guideway transit system connects Port Island to Sannomiya Station and to Kobe Airport.
